COLUMBIA SCHOLASTIC PRESS ASSOCIATION AWARDS TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL ONLINE NEWSPAPER AND YEARBOOK WITH GOLD CROWNS
Texarkana, TX – Following the cancellation of their spring convention in New York City, the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) announced their Crown Award winners via social media.
Texas High School’s Tiger Times Online was one of 25 in the country to receive a Gold Crown in the hybrid newspaper division and the Tiger yearbook was one of 13 in the country to receive a Gold Crown in the yearbook division. A total of 1,145 publications were eligible for judging.
The Crown Awards honors top student publications in the country chosen from CSPA’s members. Crowns are selected for overall excellence in a head-to-head comparison. Student publishing in news, magazine, yearbook or digital (online) formats are all eligible. During Crown consideration, publications are judged on their excellence as shown by their design, photography, concept, coverage and writing.
The CSPA offers three annual competitions to honor excellence in student publishing: Medalist Critiques for written evaluation, Crown Awards for overall excellence and Gold Circle Awards for individual student recognition.
