ArkLaTex Eyes

Dr. Briley Hearn, O.D., grew up in Avery, Texas, and attended Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, before moving to San Antonio. After years away from her Northeast Texas home, Dr. Hearn is moving back to the area to join the optometry team at ArkLaTex Eyes, which has locations in New Boston and Texarkana. “I love the feel of Texarkana. It has the charms of a small town with many of the benefits of a larger city,” Dr. Hearn says. “My husband and I are already actively looking for a church to get involved with, and I plan to join some local clubs and organizations. I’m always looking for more opportunities to get involved and give back to my community!”

Dr. Hearn is married to Dalton Hearn, who is originally from Arkansas. The two met in college and married in 2020. “We love the fact that by moving back, we can get the best of both worlds—and in this case, states—living in Texarkana,” Dr. Hearn says.

Since Dr. Hearn has worn glasses since the age of ten, she has always been acquainted with her local optometrist. “I still remember putting on my first frames and being blown away by the detail of the world around me. I’ve always wanted to help others have that same feeling,” Dr. Hearn says. “My optometrist was a huge inspiration to me. He truly knew and cared for his patients in a way that can be rare, and I saw the impression he made every day. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be like that.”

In order to follow her dream, Dr. Hearn graduated from Ouachita Baptist University with a Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in chemistry. After finishing her undergraduate degree, Dr. Hearn attended the University of Incarnate Word – Rosenberg School of Optometry, where she graduated cum laude. Now, she is joining the practice at ArkLaTex Eyes. “The level of professional care offered at ArkLaTex Eyes is outstanding. From my first moment touring the office, I was impressed by how state-of-the-art everything was,” Dr. Hearn says. “The clinics have top-notch equipment, fantastic doctors, and knowledgeable staff. I’m excited to join such a wonderful team!”

Dr. Hearn believes the most rewarding aspect of optometry is the impact made on each individual patient. She is trained in all aspects of optometry with a special interest in primary eye care, ocular disease management, pediatric eye care and myopia management. “I want to help every patient I see through quality eye care, personal connection, and professional courtesy,” Dr. Hearn says. “ I know how meaningful the gift of sight can be and hope to improve people’s quality of life through optometric care.”
