Justin & Annie Vanhoose – Wedding
April 16, 2022

In 2020, I (Annie) had just moved to Colorado looking for a fresh start in the idle of the pandemic. Justin had finished graduate school and moved from El Paso to Denver in 2019 to work for a Denver-based aerospace company. Because of COVID, both of us were having a hard time meeting people and downloaded Hinge. I wasn’t “looking for anything serious,” but after four dates, we were officially dating and were engaged eight months later. We had our wedding in Texarkana, Arkansas, close to Justin’s family.
It was special because…
We rented an antebellum-style mansion the morning of our wedding, where we invited the immediate family and wedding party for a breakfast before the wedding. I was so anxious that day that we broke tradition and saw each other before the ceremony. Those few hours were relaxing, and everyone had such a good time. That was definitely a treasured memory.
Once we were at the venue, the staff at Garrison Gardens were all helpful and friendly. It helped calm my nerves. Everyone kept expecting me, the bride, to know what was going on, but I was so stressed that I told them just to ask the onsite wedding coordinator, which helped the day go so smoothly.
We also loved the location, which was a wooded garden at the peak of spring. It drizzled right before the ceremony, which we took as a sign of good luck!
